2010 is already great: Soundgarden reunion announced

Already off to a good start, Chris Cornell announced via Twitter that Soundgarden will be hosting reunion concert gigs in 2010. Although no admission of new material, this is still amazing.

Billboard.com writes:

Although no details have been announced yet, sources tell Billboard the group is weighing offers from several major U.S. and international festivals. But a tour routing is still a work in progress, due to Cameron’s prior commitments to play with Pearl Jam in the spring and summer of next year.

Even better news is that Timbaland will have nothing to do with it.

WMG Good News Comes with Bad News

According to Hits Daily Double:

Warner Music Group reported a 1% increase in revenues to $861 million (5% on a constant currency basis) for the quarter ending Sept. 30, while digital revenue grew by 10% to $184 million, acoounting for 21% of all quarterly revenues. But not all was good news, as the company posted a loss of 18 million (12-cents per share), the result in part of severance costs. On the year, losses hit $100 million, compared to $56 million a year ago, while revenues were down 9% to $3.176 billion.

So they increase revenues but lost money… because they laid people off.

Not Death Watch: Def Jam is 25

6B1ACC96-F2CA-45D9-8533-23EF1BA266C7.jpgTonight was Def Jam’s, of Island Def Jam, 25th Anniversary of existing. A great accomplishment, though not really when you think of all the talent (and disasters CoughPittsburgSlimCough) that have been on that label. The house that Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons built has been home to such stars as Jay-Z, Kanye West, Rihanna, and unfortunately Rick Ross.
Rick Ross should not be a star.
