C. Jorg

Well Billboard went ahead and outed some of the names of people laid off at UMG’s Island Def Jam.

We weren’t really going to name names, figured it was better but hey someone did it first. Read the rest of this entry »

Simon Cowell’s transition to X Factor

As you know, this season will be Simon Cowell’s last on American Idol. He will however come back to the Fox Network in a new show called the “X factor.

Cowell pulled the same move in the UK, where he left Pop Idol for X Factor. So what is X Factor? It is basically American Idol, that Cowell would own rather than just appear on. Currently Cowell is just talent on American Idol (he does, however, make a lot of money off of the show and the winners albums). With X-Factor, Cowell will continue to show us the devil does indeed exist, as we are subjected to more crap and he gets richer.

Inane Tweets: Idolator on Kanye’s nuts.

Idolator just sent out the following tweet:

With the dedication of Kobe Bryant, Kanye West is making new music as poetic as the writing of Maya Angelou. http://bit.ly/7Zw8ug

I don’t know why that irks me, but it does. Kanye west is making music as poetic as the writing of Maya Angelou and with the dedication of Kobe Bryant? How much is he paying Buzznet to write this to restore his self shitted on image?

I guess “Ass that swallows up a g-string, and up top two bee stings ” is quite Angelou-esque ( I know that was before this was written).

Leaks Aplenty on this Sinking Ship

First it was the Rebirth of Lil Wayne as a rockstar who holds a guitar yet does not play, and now it is Usher’s latest “Raymond vs Raymond” (which may be about his divorce after he decided he was more in love with a former IDJ exec).

Digital Music News is reporting that Ushers latest has been leaked several months ahead of street date. But why? Who is dying for an usher album 3 months in advance?

Could this be a new form of self created hype marketing by the labels? Remember that when Wayne’s tracks started leaking, Uni Motown repackaged them into an ep called Tha Leak, which only hyped up the release of Tha Carter.

Perhaps thats why Amazon “accidentally” shipped those copies.

Just In: Idolator relaunch sucks

Filed in stuff we already knew; Digital Music News writes that the Idolator relaunch has faced tough criticism and anger amongst the sites previously angelic audience.

Quote sayeth the News:

Pop fanatics and longtime readers were hardly welcoming.  Instead of embracing the modest redesign and added multimedia elements, the pop intelligentsia seemed unimpressed and dismissive.  “Mainstream, cliche, commercialized garbage,” one commenter dismissed.  “So much for my favorite music blog,” another complained.

Radio’s Solution: Nick Cannon

Mr. Mariah Carey (Oil comes for free)

Mr. Mariah Carey (Oil comes for free)

In a questionable move, the CBS owned radio station WXRK 92.3 NOW in NY has hired….. Nick Cannon because…. he is in tune with todays youth.

“No one is more in tune with our young adult listeners than Nick. The addition of such a well-known and respected star will further resonate with and excite our entertainment-savvy listeners,” said PD and CBS Radio VP of CHR Programming Dom Theordore.  “His passion and energy for both music and radio are undeniable and we can’t wait to have him join our immensely talented crew at 92.3.”

Wha? He’s a respected star?

This has to be a deliberate move to kill off a radio station.
